Do You Know God?

Do You Know God dan skognes leadership development trainer coach consultant motivation blogger speaker

Every person on this planet has to come to grips with this question, “Do you know God?”  I know Him personally, and I can tell you that knowing who God is and truly knowing God are two quite different things.  The Bible says that even the demons believe in God, and tremble.  So, how does one REALLY know God?

One word: faith.  The Bible says that God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. The demons know God and know He is real, they just do not choose to submit to Him and live for Him.

God knew we could not meet the standard of being perfect, and that is what it takes to get to Heaven.  We have to be perfect.  How in the world can anyone claim to be perfect?  Well, on our own, we can’t.  There has never been one person that is perfect, except one….Jesus.  He was tempted in all things and yet He never sinned.  He gave His life for us so we could truly know Him and know God.  He was the perfect sacrifice for us. He is the only way that we can truly know God.

I realize that this sounds very narrow minded.  You mean that there is only one way to God?  Don’t shoot the messenger.  That is exactly what the Bible teaches.  Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father but by Him.

Jesus is the dividing point that separates Christianity from every other religion.  I am not trying to offend people of other faiths.  I understand that they are passionate about their faith just as I am.  The good news is that it is God’s will that nobody perish.  We just have to accept Jesus.

How do you do that?  First, admit that you are a sinner, and that you need God in your life.  The light will never come on till you realize you are in the dark.  Secondly, ask Jesus into your heart.  This is a simple act of faith.  It does not matter how good you think you are or how bad you think you’ve been, God’s grace is sufficient.  When Jesus died for us, he paid the price for our sins.  That is why HE is the key to knowing God. He is why we can be made perfect in God’s sight.

When Jesus rose from the dead and went back to Heaven to be with the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit to be with us.  So the Holy Spirit helps us, guides us, and encourages us through this crazy thing called life.  He is the one that calls you and me to the Father.  When you have that feeling that someone is knocking on the door of your heart, open up to Him.  He is there, waiting for you to respond.

I hope that you come to know God…to truly KNOW Him.  It is an amazing thing to me that God loves us so much….and His mercy and grace are given to us, even when we are at our worst.  That is a humbling thought…but it gives me hope.  It gives me…Shalom!

P.S.  If you want to accept Jesus into your life right now, pray this prayer: “Dear God, I admit to you that I am a sinner.  I ask you to forgive me.  I want Jesus to come into my life and make me whole.  Clean me up God.  I thank you for loving me and ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.”  If you prayed that prayer and meant it, you are now a child of God.  Plug in to a good Bible believing church, and start reading The Bible.  God has wonderful things prepared for you.  I look forward to meeting you someday.  Shalom!
